All projects we undertake comprise a scale drawing, detailed materials list and a detailed job specification, so that you know we will build exactly what you are expecting - with no nasty surprises.

Like Rainsborough & Son, most of our major suppliers are local, family owned businesses with whom we have had relationships for many years, meaning that you benefit directly from our ethical trading and sustainable business practices.

We are also keen and educated environmentalists, always working in an environmentally friendly manner, championing waste minimisation and appropriate use of green technology such as sustainable drainage systems or use of recycled materials. Our ongoing commitment to minimising the waste generated from building our client's gardens has led us to be short listed for the Finals of the 2007/08 Surrey Business Awards.

Design and Build

We provide a free of charge initial consultation to discuss your needs and wants, adding ideas and inspiration about what can be realistically and affordably achieved to create the garden of your dreams.

design & build documents

If you have a clear idea of your goal, then we can often come up with a working plan and design without involvement from a specialist garden designer, although on larger projects we will often introduce one of our carefully selected designers for you to work further with.

Once a design is agreed in principle, we will then provide an accurate list of the materials and labour required to deliver your vision, accompanied by a detailed job specification that explains exactly how we will create your garden using the materials listed.

The combination of these documents allows us to provide you with an accurate estimate of costs, which more often than not, we will convert to a fixed price quotation - meaning no nasty financial surprises when your garden is complete!

Grass, soil, trees and plants

We believe a garden should be a living and constantly evolving entity, no matter how little time you have to look after it. A garden designed to match your lifestyle requirements will have living components typically including lawns, trees and plants.

trees and lawns

Our experience & expertise will help you select the right components for your needs: from using the most appropriate soils to getting that beautiful lawn you have always longed for, or that special tree that just looks better year after year.

Our relationships with some of Surrey's leading nurseries will make sure that not only are the plants we supply right for your garden, but also that they are well nurtured, healthy and significantly better value than a garden centre.

If size and impact appeal to you, our expertise, muscle and specialist machinery will allow us to supply and plant trees and mature shrubs that your friends will think had always been there!

Paving, paths & patios

paving

Key components of any well-designed garden, the hard surfaces of your paths and patios will often be the most used areas of your garden. We believe that as well being functional these vital areas should also be beautiful.

With ethically sourced natural materials better value than ever before, we can build you beautiful paths and patios that will look great now - and look even better as the years go by.

We have built our reputation on specifying reasonably priced natural stone, laid with a craftsman's skill and genuine love of the material.

Timber, decking, walls & screens

Another timeless natural material, timber is a great value and versatile component for many gardens, especially when stone or masonry would appear too 'hard'.

As well as the traditional uses of timber for: fencing, arbors, arches, pergolas and trelliswork, we have the experience and expertise to make innovative use of timber.

wood from sustainable sources

We have used sustainable hardwoods such as Ipe or Balau to create beautiful hardwood decks that will last a lifetime and railway sleepers, new and old, to build walls that appear much 'softer' than their masonry counterparts.

We also make use of timber screen panels to segregate areas of gardens, providing that all important hint of something to be discovered.

We ensure that timber we use has been sourced from sustainable sources and is FSC certified where appropriate.

Water features, ponds, hot tubs & swimming pools

The sight and sound of water can bring fantastic calm to a garden, as well as providing a focal point and 'destination' for your garden.

swimming pool

Whether you require a small water feature as a point of interest for your patio, a sunken hot tub in your deck or a full-blown swimming pool, we have the expertise, experience and supplier relationships to make your dream a reality.

Our retained & qualified electrician is fully up to date with the latest legal requirements and building regulations of powering your hot tub or swimming pool.

Outdoor lighting & power

Whether to uplight that 'special tree', or light the path to the shed, outdoor lighting has become a critical component of nearly all our gardens.

outdoor lighting

We can advise on areas of your garden where lighting will add most impact and how to make use of lighting that won't dazzle your neighbours!

We have extensive expertise on what fittings are appropriate, like using LED's in a deck because they don't get hot and can therefore be walked over safely, as well as which type of fitting to keep your energy bill under control.

Working with our retained and qualified electrician, we will ensure that your outdoor lighting and power requirements are delivered safely and in accordance with the latest regulations.
